I graduated from the school of Medicine of the University of Nuevo León in 1976 and obtained a Masters Degree in Psychology at the School of Psychology of the University of Monterrey in 1973. I also graduated from the Institute of Psychotherapy of Monterrey in 1976. I taught at the school of Psychology of the University of Nuevo León and was the first Dean of the School of Psychology of the Universidad Regiomontana.
In 1977 I came to the United States to the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas. I graduated in Psychiatry in 1980 and in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 1981 at the Menninger School of Psychiatry and Mental Health Sciences. I was certified in Psychiatry in 1985 and in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 1986 by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I also completed training in Psychoanalysis and Child Psychoanalysis at the Topeka Institute for Psychoanalysis in 1986 and was certified in Psychoanalysis by the American Psychoanalytic Association in 1988.
